Music Rewind: Remember This One??? (Old School Club/House Music Special)

UPL presents the weekly Music Rewind to remind us what music is all about.

Murk (also known by several other names, including Funky Green Dogs) released "Fired Up" in 1996 and it exploded just like a fireball! My older brother was a club DJ so he played this stuff alllllll the time. I was born to love music. I'm proud I caught the tail end of this era and had a chance to truly enjoy incredible melodies, harmonies and beats. Also, check out the original music video HERE.

And this is a classic from 1988...it's Raze with "Break 4 Love". It's the group's only significant hit and it's a home-run! The subtly of his lead vocal combined with that massive beat and the girl in heat...come on!!!

Ok, who knew there was a video??? I just happened to stumble upon this...seriously (lol). It's a treat though. This song has that '90s swag to it. The perfect two-step song or you can simply bug the f*** out if you want. It's a very versatile track. It's Lidell Townsell featuring MTF with "Nu Nu" from the year 1992. How many nu-nus still out there??? No really???

I can't describe what happens to me when I hear this one. I know it's "gospel" house music so let me be cool (lol). It's the incomparable Kenny Bobien with his early '90s rendition of the Patti LaBelle classic "You Are My Friend". This is, indeed, my all-time favorite house track!
