Pretty girls rise up (especially the black ones)! And anyone left sitting is taking the first sentence too literally. This is not about the covers of Vogue, Essence or even Details magazines. Please believe that Keri Hilson has taken it upon herself to show what true beauty is. It's not superficial...it's a natural thing. It comes from the inside out.

Keri's sophomore album No Boys Allowed to be released December 21st has female empowerment written all over it. I applaud Keri for this. We need some balance against all of the hot booty-poppin' music out there (yes, I said hot because I do like a lot of it too lol). But, this is a song I wouldn't mind my young daughter singing (if I had one).

Interestingly enough, a male friend of mine was turned off by the song at first listen. He said, "Keri is too pretty to sing a song like that." I replied, "Who else is supposed to sing it?" In my opinion, this is about getting past the surface and recognizing the whole package of beauty. Unfortunately, most people wouldn't even get past the surface to appreciate the song (as readily necessary these days) if the singer was a lot less pleasing to the eyes. Yes, there are exceptions. Blah, blah, blah...

So I don't want to spoil the clever plot of the music video. Check out the music video for the Ne-Yo & Chuck Harmony-produced "Pretty Girl Rock" and let us know what you think??? Just know that you have to always pay homage to those who paved the way...
